Chatsworth House
When we decided to plan a trip to England, I knew we were going to have to see Chatsworth House. This house is most famous for being used as Pemberly in the 2005 film version of Pride & Prejudice with Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfadyen.
Pride & Prejudice is my favorite book so a chance to see Mr. Darcy's house was a definite must!
We weren't staying in the area so I knew we wouldn't have enough time to take a tour, but I still wanted to stop and at least see it in person. It was slightly out of the way for our journey from Bath to York, but the detour was well worth it! Chatsworth House is even more beautiful in person. When we were there, they were setting up for a wedding. I cannot even comprehend how amazing a wedding would be here. If you happen to be getting married at Chatsworth House, feel free to send me an invitation! I'd love to be the random American crashing your elegant wedding!
Parking is just a couple pounds and then you can explore around the house and there are little shops and restaurants. I absolutely loved it here and would love to come back - especially in the winter. They offer wonderful Christmas events including a Christmas market with more than 100 stalls, live music from bell ringers or a string trio, and even a Masquerade Ball!
Be sure to check their website for any upcoming events!
The house has over 30 rooms to explore and is known for its vast art collection. There are several restaurants on site offering everything from a quick bite to traditional afternoon tea served in the 18th century stables.
Overall, I wish we had more time at Chatsworth House, but I am so happy that we were able to stop and explore, even if it was only for a short time.
Next stop on our adventure - York!
Adventure Always.
