Glendalough ~ County Wicklow, Ireland
Glendalough is a valley located in County Wicklow that is known for it's monastery that was originally established in the 6th century by St. Kevin. The historic buildings and ruins set against the stunning Wicklow Mountains is simply breathtaking. Some of my favorite attractions to see when I'm traveling are the kind where you can get out of the car, and just walk around and explore whatever your heart desires. Glendalough is that kind of place. There are so many wonderful nooks & crannies to explore all in one stop. Not only the incredible ruins, but the mountains & pristine lakes nearby. It's a wonderful place to stop for a bit, walk around and get lost in the beauty and history of this magical place.
