The Perks & Random Tips ~ Coco Plum Island Resort ~ Belize

The Perks & Random Tips ~ Coco Plum Island Resort ~ Belize

There isn't much you need to do to really enjoy yourself at Coco Plum Island Resort.  They truly take care of everything for you.  However, these are a few of the special perks that I think set Coco Plum aside for other private island resorts and also a few tips on some things to make your trip to paradise extra special.

Lobster Fest

If you're planning a trip. in the summer, consider going in July because that is the kickoff to lobster season in Belize, which means Lobster Fest at Coco Plum! So one night a week in the month of July they serve delicious lobster for dinner. The lobster entree was delicious, but my absolute favorite part of Lobster Fest was the lobster ceviche - my mouth is watering just thinking about it. The chef was kind enough to give me the recipe for it so I think I'll have to attempt to make it at home sometime soon!

Karaoke

Now let me preface this part by saying that I have never, and will never do karaoke. There is no one on this planet that wants to hear me sing. Ever. But I will say that karaoke at a place like Coco Plum was just really, really fun.  It's such a small island that it felt like a group of friends getting together with a karaoke machine and a fully stocked bar.  It was a great night with some memories that we will never forget.

Happy Hour

Every evening at Coco Plum they offer a Happy Hour where the specialty drinks that aren't included in the all-inclusive menu are half off. The Happy Hour is a great time to try some of the other delicious drinks on the Coco Plum menu.  We particularly loved the Bloody Mary's!

Bring Something to Leave at the Bar

As I'm sure you've noticed the roof on the inside of the bar at Coco Plum is completely covered in t-shirts and other memorabilia from previous guests, including an actual wedding dress! We had so much fun checking out the notes on the shirts and seeing where everyone was from.  If you find yourself at the bar at Coco Plum, look for a little turquoise coozie with Mary Kate & Dan on it - that was our mark we left on our favorite little piece of paradise.

Island Activities...

If you're the kind of person who doesn't really enjoy lounging around and sunbathing for hours on end, then no need to worry - Coco Plum may still be your perfect paradise too! There are kayaks, stand-up paddle boards, snorkel gear, and a Hobie Cat for your use for free.  The island is small enough that you can easily kayak around it - and there is a wonderful little private beach on the other side of the island.  So if you're feeling adventurous then there are plenty of options for activities - you really have the option to be as active or as relaxed & lazy as you want to be!

The Island Next Door

One day we decided to go for a walk across the sandbar and check out the island resort next door.  We grabbed a drink from the bar at Coco Plum and walked over to lounge in the comfy hammock swings.  Then we headed onto their island and wandered around there for a bit.  They have a pretty cool bar area and some really delicious fresh fruit drinks - when we were there they had dragon fruit daiquiris on special and they were soooooooo good. Obviously, you need to bring cash for this bar, but it was a fun little mini-excursion to check out another island resort.
