Hawkins of Bath - B&B
Once we arrived in Bath, we checked in to the B&B, Hawkins of Bath. The owner and operator, Diane, met us at the door and she was as sweet as can be. We had dinner reservations at Sotto Sotto, so unfortunately we weren't able to chat very long with Diane. But she was kind enough to offer us a ride into town - seriously, she was the sweetest lady ever. On the way into town she took us by some of the highlights of Bath, including a few of their famous Georgian crescents. She dropped us off near the Pulteney Bridge and we walked the last couple of blocks through the city to get to Sotto Sotto.
Not only is Diane the sweetest lady ever, but her B&B is outstanding. We were staying in the Lansdown Room and it was absolutely gorgeous. The room has a beautiful chandelier above the King size bed and a large ensuite bath with a roll-top tub - it was the perfect spot to relax after a long day of sight seeing and driving.
We had another long drive ahead of us the next morning, so we had to hit the road pretty early and unfortunately because of that, we were going to miss breakfast. Diane was super understanding and packed us a wonderful breakfast for us to take with us.
Typically, breakfast is served in their breakfast room. It's full of windows and looks out towards the patio and garden - which has a Hobbit House! The inner-Lord of the Rings nerd in me was quite excited to see a Hobbit House in person! I'm not sure what it's actually used for, but I'm going to pretend that Frodo really lives there.
There are many options when it comes to lodging in Bath, but it is no surprise that Hawkins of Bath is ranked #1 for B&B's in Bath on TripAdvisor. It really is a remarkable B&B with the most wonderful host! I wish we could have stayed longer, but I guess now we just have to go back!
Adventure Always.
